I decided to retry Metroid Dread, and now I’m hooked on the Metroid series again.

I’ve missed doodling just for fun. I must really be wore out from putting in maximum effort all of the time for the past 3 years.

Meanwhile, on Zebes

Kraid and Ridley spending the events of Prime 2 minding their own business at home. A home which according to High Command isn't an important enough base to pay attention to since they have no metroids, phazon or their supercomputer anymore, but there are plenty of things to do in a villain lair recovering from previous games.

Kraid has been busy running the place and overseeing the repairs while Ridley was being put back together on Orpheon, and that's still an ongoing task, but sometimes there's also time for things like making sure the fireflea hive in the walls of their living room is thriving, so they have free light unaffected by power outages in the base (and at a suitable brightness, as they both see well with very little light anyway, and Kraid has pretty sensitive eyes). Ridley being put back together is also still an ongoing project, but most of what got further damaged in Prime 1 is already detachable and replaceable, so he can mostly do his own patchups and upgrades.

i have a very specific vision for kraid if they bring him back, i want kraid to be ridley's patrick star, not only would it be hilarious for godzilla to be an idiot but also if you really think about it

ridley is cold, calculated, he plans things out, he knows what he's doing, he knows where he's going with this, he's in control of the situation, he's the ringleader, he gets shit done, he's personally on the field all the time, the only time he was acting entirely on impulse & instinct is when he got all phazon-ed in prime 3 and his brain was being fried

kraid got captured by some chozos in the middle of fucking nowhere relative to the rest of the galaxy (probably after his ship got lost fleeing zebes if i had to guess) when i'm pretty sure he definitely should've been able to kill them, and after his fuck-up in zero mission the space pirates had to add 2 other guardians besides him & ridley to protect tourian, and he was never even invited to the phazon party when ridley was all over that shit

With Kraid participating in the Metroid renaissance via Dread, I'm crossing fingers he'll show up in Beyond. It would be a change of pace from yet another Ridley fight, which is why Dread went that route; Plus it could be a way for Retro Studios to reimplement the Meta Kraid concept they had back with the first Prime game that started it all!!! And with in-game scans providing more room for lore, exposition, and characterization, we could use Space Pirate logs to flesh out Kraid's personality so he can have some much-needed characterization; Maybe not enough to catch up with his comrade Ridley, but it's something to start off with at least.
